Ruth is a biblical figure that has emerged throughout my life. She left all she knew and loved to embrace a completely new life. She acted on faith, love and the intelligent, informed advice of a mentor. She became grandmother of King David and the prophesied ancestor of the Messiah.
In her early twenties, my own mother left all she knew and loved to embrace a completely new life. In turn, I was forced to do the same at the tender age of ten. I embraced my new life with all the drive and energy of my being, and thrived in my new environment with little looking back… almost.
Upon discovering the abuse of my children, I found myself, once again, leaving all that had become comfortable and familiar. I chose to face my fears, secrets, and blinders in an attempt to permanently stop the abuse cycle prevalent throughout my life. Much like the biblical Ruth, I have embarked on a healing journey out of sheer desperation. A journey toward greater love and faith–a journey in search of truth, meaning, and ultimate destiny.
